Matchmaking
Matchmaking tries to build the fairest battle it can from the players who are ready at the same time. It starts by looking for players close to your trophy count. If you are in a party, the group’s average trophies are used.
What it matches first
Your chosen mode, team size, and map need to line up. Within that pool, matchmaking favors close trophy ratings and balanced teams. Character level is not the main matchmaking rating.
The search gradually opens up if there is no close match right away. That keeps the first choice fair without making a quiet queue last forever. At less busy times, the trophy gap may be wider.
Parties and team balance
A party stays together. The matchmaker compares the party’s average trophies with other available players and arranges the sides as evenly as it can. A group with very different trophy counts may see more variety in its opponents.
No system can promise a perfectly even match. Fighter choices, teamwork, the map, and a good or bad round all matter once the battle starts.
If the search takes a while
Keep the lobby open and check that everyone in the party is connected and ready. Changing the selected mode, map, or team size starts a different search. You can cancel safely before a match is found.
